Properties:Chlorphenesin is a white to off-white crystalline powder with no odor or a slight characteristic odor under normal temperature and pressure, Melting point: 77-79°C, Boiling point: 369.5°C (at 760 mmHg), Density: 1.317 g/cm³, showing extremely low volatility; the substance is slightly soluble in water (about 0.5% at 25°C), soluble in DMSO, ethanol, and methanol (slightly soluble, needing ultrasonic assistance), readily soluble in propylene glycol and glycerol, soluble in ethers, slightly soluble in fixed oils, insoluble in mineral oil, and also soluble in hot water at 65°C.

Applications:Chlorphenesin is a broad-spectrum antibacterial preservative and antifungal active ingredient with core applications in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors. Approved for use by authoritative institutions in Europe (since 1996), the United States, Japan, and other countries, it exhibits potent inhibitory effects against Gram-positive/negative bacteria, fungi (such as Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans), and yeasts—with particularly outstanding antifungal performance. It can be compounded with phenoxyethanol, potassium sorbate, and other preservatives for synergistic effects, effectively preventing product viscosity changes, pH fluctuations, mold growth, and odor formation. Widely suitable for facial care, color cosmetics, and body care products including moisturizers, anti-aging serums, sunscreens, foundations, mascaras, and cleansers, it complies with the "Safety and Technical Standards for Cosmetics" with a maximum allowable concentration of 0.3%, ensuring high safety. In the pharmaceutical field, Chlorphenesin serves as an antifungal agent for treating dermatophytosis, vaginal fungal infections, nail fungal infections, and other conditions. It also has immunomodulatory effects, inhibiting IgE-mediated histamine release, making it suitable for therapeutic skincare products and related formulations. Additionally, it functions as an industrial preservative for mold prevention in coatings, adhesives, textiles, etc., or as a chemical intermediate for synthesizing dyes, fragrances, and more.
