Properties:Methylene methanedisulfonate (MMDS) is a white or off-white crystalline powder. Density: 1.851 g/cm³ (25℃), Melting point: 146~146.5℃. It exhibits good solubility, being highly soluble in water, ethanol, ether and other organic solvents, easily reacts with water vapor in the air to form sulfonic acid, and is chemically stable at room temperature.
Applications:Methane dimethanesulfonate (MMDS) is a high-performance electrolyte additive for lithium-ion batteries. It forms a stable and dense SEI film (Solid Electrolyte Interphase) on electrode surfaces through electrochemical reduction, effectively reducing electrolyte decomposition and suppressing the dissolution of metal ions. MMDS plays a key role in improving high-temperature cycling performance. It prevents manganese (Mn) ions from dissolving out of lithium manganese oxide (LMO) cathodes at elevated temperatures and depositing on the anode surface, thereby avoiding impedance growth and significantly enhancing battery cycling life. This makes MMDS especially suitable for LMO-based power batteries. In addition, MMDS shows excellent interfacial compatibility with high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems such as LiNi₀.₅Mn₁.₅O₄. It greatly improves low-temperature discharge performance, cycling stability, and overall safety, extending battery lifespan and ensuring long-term performance.
Storage:Keep in a well-closed container with N2 protection. Store in a cool, dry and weill-ventilated place. The shelf life is 3 months under 20°C.
